Module 14: Patterns, Templates, Jigs and Fixtures                                   773-154

This is a 60 hour module.

During this Module you are expected to design and make patterns, templates, jigs and fixtures.
Individually or in small groups, the specific tasks students are required to do so are:
  1. Interpreting a plan 
  2. Layout of a template
  3. Production and adjustment of a template
  4. Discussion and analysis on the appropriate use of patterns, templates, jigs and fixtures
  5. Discussion and analysis on the choice of tools used in the process
  6. Discussion and analysis on the how the work-piece is held in a jig and how the jig is handled
  7. Discussion and analysis on the choice of appropriate use of materials to produce patters, templates, jigs and fixtures.
  8. Execution and installation of the above points discussed.
  9. Critical thinking / criticism and quality control
Evaluation

Evaluation is impossible without your participation.
To effectively acquire these competencies will take the full 60 hours, not to mention finishing this lovely project

The evaluation is contingent to the product of your jigs.
  •  Observance of occupational health and safety rules
  • Proper design of fixtures and jigs
  • Appropriate application of techniques for making patters, templates, jigs and fixtures
